On one hand, I've always been a great Battle Realms fan! Really, it's my favourite game of all time, no joke. I loved the setting, the characters, the gameplay, the unit alchemy... all those factors made it perfect.
On the other hand, these characters don't really... err, they don't really intrigue me as much as the original characters from the first game. They look like they have nothing to do with Battle Realms at all, and I'm guessing from the title of the game that it's most likely going to be a prequel, so there's probably little chance of revisiting our older companions from the game.
It makes me worried that there's possibly not too much interest in the lore and the feel of the game, and that the "Battle Realms" tag has just been slapped on top in order to draw in fans of the old games without really bothering to keep the asian themes that were established in the first games :\
The reason I loved Battle Realms was because of it's eastern/chinese/japanese themes, and I don't get that feel here, what with the jackal-people, the horned people and the elven-eared humanoids. Don't get me wrong, the picture is absolutely awesome! I just don't immediately think "F*CK YEAH, BATTLE REALMS!" when I see it.
